  1. Joy,

Thanks for visiting my site and leaving a comment. I look forward to more participation with you after I recover from my surgery. I will be having my colon removed on Mon, the 30th. Don't know how long recovery will take. FYI you might also like my Sweet Treats blog at

    Hope to be back soon.

  2. Hello Linda. I wish you all the very best for a successful surgery and fast recovery. When you are all better and back to blogging, I will be happy to see you joining us again. I look forward to your participating recipes. In the meantime I will be reading your archives at both Grandma's Vintage Recipes and Sweet Treats, and I will tell my readers about your blogs too.
    Take Care,

  3. Do you mean that we should make our own recipe or one that you will put up? I would like to be part of this, I love old things :)...

  4. Noor: Your own recipes. You can use original family recipes or vintage recipes from cookbooks, magazines and newspapers.

I must say all of us using the same recipe would be a lot of fun too. We could have one of those types of roundups too sometime.

I'm glad you will be joining us!

  5. Joy I love this idea, you are so clever!!xGloria

  6. I posted an old cookie recipe from a newspaper clipping today. It's called "Clean Out the Kitchen" cookies, but still not sure how to get on your swap; I'm techno-challenged and the 14-year-old is at school!

  7. How do you know if a recipe is copyright-free?

  8. Mim: Just look on the inside of the first few pages where you would normally find a copyright. A lot of vintage cookbooks were never copyrighted in the first place; some are so old that the copyrights and renewal copyrights have expired; some publishers have long since gone out of business; especially for magazines and newspapers, many across the country have shut down their doors forever because of our current extreme recession.

  9. This is such a neat idea! I just recently started collecting old cookbooks! This group sounds fun!

  10. So happy to add your Vintage Recipe Thursday Button on my blog's sidebar. Can't wait to join in this fall. Ciao Bella, Rita @

  16. Hi, Joy! So glad you lead me here the other day! The recipe I'd like to submit today is from my Mother-in-Law's family cookbook that she printed up some time ago, for Yummy Cherry easy and SO delicious! I'm sure it's not super old, but old enough, and from family, so hope it is fine. I'll dig a little deeper next week! Thanks for all you're doing to preserve these wonderful old recipes!
