Wordless Wednesday: I love teacups with pedestals

When I was a child in France my mom always drank her tea or coffee out of a teacup with an elegant  and uncommon square foot or pedestal.  It was given to her by my grandmother, and was of the finest see-through white porcelain with tiny gold fleur-de-lis and gold banding.  I was in love with it, and I am pretty sure it is one of the main reasons I love teacups and the entire tea-drinking experience.  Living in Paris, I was quite used to being surrounded by beauty and elegance, but for me this was the epitome of it.

Here, I am sharing teacups with pedestals too.  Notice the main photo with an elevated saucer, and the top and bottom teacups on the left with cut-out detailing on the saucers.  The bottom teacup and pedestal are six-sided.

  7. Those pedestals are so cute. There are two main styles of tea cups, the pedestal style and the smooth bottom style. Teacup is just adorable and so gorgeous on the inside.
