New England berry dessert recipe: The Flummery

In no more than 15 minutes, you can prepare this easy dessert for 4. You can vary the recipe by using any one of the berries or any combination. Also try ice cream or yogurt instead of cream.

For another berry dessert recipe most people haven't heard of, try the Blueberry Cream Cheese Fool. (Click on link for recipe.)

1 handful of blackberries
1 handful of strawberries (halved)
2 cups water, plus 1/4 cup water
3 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch

cream

In a saucepan, simmer berries with 2 cups water for about 10 minutes.  In a small bowl, dissolve cornstarch in 1/4 cup water.  Stir into berries.  Continue simmering until smooth and thick.  Stir in sugar.  Let cool and chill.  Serve with cold cream.
