I Like You: Hospitality Under The Influence REVIEW

The New York Times Bestseller "I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence" by Amy Sedaris is coming out in paperback tomorrow.

Although it is classified as a cookbook, it is a cookbook like you have never seen or read before, under the influence of Sedaris' unique sense of humor! It is not for the prude or anyone lacking a healthy sense of humor. It includes how-tos, crafts, female hygiene, jokes about drugs and sex, hospitality advice for all occasions including funerals, caring for the elderly, blind dates, children's parties, and much more that you wouldn't have dreamed of.

If you can allow yourself not to get offended, you will be laughing out loud, and you will be playing "I spy" at every turn of the page because even the pictures are chock full of jokes, surprises, hidden agendas, found objects, secret treasures and design galore just waiting to be explored.

Don't come to the wrong conclusion that it is a joke book, though. As funny as "I Like You" is, Sedaris is absolutely serious about the information she is giving her readers. The presentation is humorous, but the information is real. She says, "I like the traditional idea of entertaining, which for me means lively guests, good food, cocktails, and bubbly conversation. I'd like to bring entertaining back to these essentials."

You will find real recipes like her cupcakes, which were voted second best in the city by New York Magazine, and her famous Li'l Smoky Cheese Balls. Of particular interest for dessert lovers will be Antonia's Cherry Pie, Lemon Cake For Lino, Fluffy Coconut Cake, Coconut Custard Ice Cream, Bob Evan's Bourbon Apple Pie and Lula's Brown Sugar Pie.

Sedaris wants you to have fun and enjoy the whole process from picking recipes, planning the party, and spending time with your guests because "remember, by inviting someone into your home, you're saying 'I like you'".
