Paphiopedilum Orchid (Raisin Pie x Spellbound) |
This week I'm sharing a raising pie recipe. It's a good one for Fall and will be a tasty addition to your Thanksgiving dessert table. The Raisin Pie pictured at right is a hybrid Paphiopedilum orchid. Enjoy.

1 1/2 cups raisins
1/4 cup lemon juice
3 tablespoons flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup boiling water
1 tablespoon butter
Few grains salt
Combine sugar, flour, and salt. Add boiling water slowly, stirring constantly. Cook over hot water until thick and clear. Add raisins, lemon juice, and butter. Mix thoroughly. Pour into pastry-lined tin. Cover with top crust. Bake in hot oven (425 F.) about 25 minutes.

Yes that sounds great. My mom use to make it for us. The recipe sounds just about the way she did it. Now I want some pie.
ReplyDeleteSusan and Russ: I see I'm bringing back pleasant memories for both of you with this raisin pie. :-) There's no good reason why raisin pies have fallen out of fashion. They are so tasty. Thank you for sharing your own vintage recipes with me.
