Caramel Ice Cream Recipe

Link up your vintage recipes below. Any recipe approximately 10 years or older qualifies. It could be one for your newlywed days, one from your mom, an aunt, a grandmother. It could come from an old cookbook or magazine, and old recipe postcard, etc. Let us know where you got the recipe and follow the basic blogging etiquette good for any linky party:
- Leave the link to your post so that everyone can find your recipe even months and years from now;
- Link back to your hostesses in your posts since they link to you. It is mutually beneficial;
- Enjoy visiting each other, discovering new blogs and making blog friends. This is what linky parties and blogging are all about.
1 egg
1 cup milk, scalded
few grains of salt

Did you like Cares' butterbeers last week? Well, Julie, The Farm Girl, made butterbeer cupcakes. And to stay on the Harry Potter theme, Cares at From Which Things Grow, made a chocolate whiskey cake or Firewhiskey cake to celebrate Voldemort's demise. Light has conquered darkness. You might be sad that the movie series is over, but as Albus Dumbledore said, "Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light." So have a Deathly Hallows Party and be happy. :-)
These other desserts might also tickle your fancy:
- The Farm Girl also shared her grandma's apple pie recipe, and you all know how much I like those kinds of tried and true recipes since I host Vintage Recipe Thursday too.
- Chef in Training makes a super easy peach cobbler. It can't get any easier with only three ingredients.
- The Paper Princess shared coconut butterscotch cookies. Don't those flavors sound absolutely delicious?
- Dorothy at Crazy for Crust shared her Anniversary Cheesecake with Macadamia Nut Shortbread Crust. It's great if you are afraid of making a regular pie crust yourself, and it has added flavor, so you can't miss.

This recipe couldn't be any easier, just blend the ingredients together, pour into your ice cream maker, and ... DONE.
With an electric ice cream maker, you'll be eating this ice cream in about 20 minutes. So don't miss out. Make your own ice cream.
And please share your own vintage recipes with all of us. The definition of vintage is as little as 10 years old. Add your recipes to the linky below.

Wordless Wednesday Linky: I love decorative sugar tongs
This post is shared with Trish's Tea Party Tuesday, Donna's Tuesday Tea Chat, Martha's Tea Cup Tuesday, Terry's Tea Cup Tuesday, Wordless Wednesday, What I Love Wednesday, Vintage Share the Love Wednesday, Woo Us To Your Blog. Be sure to link your Wordless Wednesday post below. I have a WW linky each week, so be sure to follow me if you want to easily find this weekly linky.
I grew up with sugar cubes, so there were always sugar tongs. My favorite one to play with was the "crab" in the first picture. I have fond memories of pinching sugar, my napkin, or a small toy, etc., all while I marveled at the mechanism in this French device. You hold your index and middle fingers below the metal insert in the middle, and you push with your thumb at the top. It's similar to the mechanism in a ballpoint pen. It remains open as long as you push with your thumb, and grabs the sugar cube when you let go.

This lovely poem was attached to the main illustration with the teacup on the right .
Just think Summer's Day. :-)
Love and Tea
I'm sending you love and tea,
To warm your winter's day.
Think of me as you pour your cup,
And all the good things we would say.
If we could be together now,
Instead of miles apart...
We'd sip our teas and memories,
As the sweet warmth fills the heart.

Joy of Desserts' Monday, Mmm...Dessert Recipe Linky Party
It's Joy of Desserts time. Time to link up your delicious dessert recipes.
Please remember common blog courtesy. Link to your post, not your blog so that readers can find your recipe even weeks and months from now. I link to you in my post, so please link to me in your post too. Enjoy visiting each other and discovering new blogs. This is what a linky party is all about.
This week's featured recipes include none other than Harry Potter's Butterbeers shared by Cares of From Which Things Grow. There's a child-friendly version for Harry's, Hermione's and Ron's children. And there's a grownup version for all the Hogwart graduates. I'm sure we'll be serving the kid-friendly version at an upcoming party because our son and his friends love all the Harry Potter movies and books. All the parents do too. We even all went to see Deathly Hallows on the first showing of opening day. So much fun.
Next up, brownies kicked up a notch with coconut to make Samoa Brownies from the Elis Sisters at Six Sisters' Stuff. If you love triffles, you'll love this one even more, because it's made with strawberry shortbread. This Strawberry Shortbread Triffle was shared by Lisa at Flour me with Love. There are lots of chocolate lovers out there and I'm also featuring a Fruit and Nut Chocolate Loaf from Annika at All The Live Long Day, and a Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cupcake from Kristen at The Sweet Swipper.

Award: The Versatile Blogger
Marelie of Cookie Droplets has given me a Versatile Blogger Award. My sincere thanks to Marelie. If you haven't met her yet, hop on over there and you'll find lots of delicious Filipino food, both sweet and savory. Since the Philippines have many influences including French, Spanish, Chinese, American and more, you'll also get a world flavor. She often includes history of dish and background on some of the exotic ingredients westerners might not be familiar with, so you'll be learning a lot on her blog.
Rules for accepting the award:

Rules for accepting the award:
1. Post linking back to the person that gave you the award
2. Share 7 random things about yourself
3. Award 15 recently discovered blogs
4. Drop them a note and tell them about it.
I'm not sticking with the "recently discovered" part of the rules. Some of the blogs are recent discoveries, but some belong to longtime blog friends.

I'm not sticking with the "recently discovered" part of the rules. Some of the blogs are recent discoveries, but some belong to longtime blog friends.
Seven random things:
- I have been blogging since 2007;
- I started this blog in March 2008;
- It was supposed to be just a test to see if I liked the Blogger Platform;
- My "real" blog was supposed to be about life in general;
- I still have fantasies of starting that blog;
- At the moment my life is far too busy to write and manage two blogs;
- Not to sound negative, because I like to keep this blog joyful, but (snicker ... LOL) I hate the latest release of the Blogger Dashboard coming soon to all dashboards near you. Have you seen it yet? Do you hate it too? My two biggest peeves are that everything is in microprint, and everything has been moved for no apparent reason. Luckily, Blogger usually listens to feedback, so I'm hopeful they will make the appropriate changes before it is released to everyone.
